welp saw that coming

i feel like at this point i can't really complain about the relationship dynamics in black bird because they were present from the very first volume. i can, however, complain that misao essentially got demoted from being the main character of her own story by the end. not cool.

When it finally came to it, I wasn’t sure if Misao living or dying would be the better ending, but I’m ok with how things ended. I also liked the first of the extra stories at the end.

its sad seeing her parents excited about a wedding yet she may die but she plays it off...also they are worried about her mom. she hasnt said anything but if she asked they would tell her the truth.
holy shit the mom was about have Kyo expose himself just because Misao was in danger...man that is love, but the mom knew what she was doing. damn manipulative.
omg stop the magazines in Kyo's car were wedding ones omg imma cry ahhhh
damn so the mom was watching and observing the truth behind their relationship and she said no matter his circumstances that she liked Kyo for making her so happy and that she approved. awe
damn the bath scene though...lol he called her mommy. im screaming
awe their talk about how they love and appreciate each other for being in each others lives was everything. he told her without her he would not know happiness omg that is everything. then they said I love you to each other
omg we having a time jump!!!! Soh is born and Jiro is his attendant!!! omg he's six and poor Soh feels responsible for his mom. she did pass?!? omg bro everyone crying and hurting about Misao more than happy about the baby damn that just shows how much they love her...damn Kyo kept kissing her to transmit his energy into her to keep her alive. OMG SHE'S ALIVE!!!!!!! Damn he cried when she awoke. the first time he has ever cried
stop Sagami has kids now and cut his hair!! and the triplets' triplet sisters omg too fucking cute!! baby tengu everywhere
awe so Soh has Taro, Saburo, and Jiro yet Hoki and Sagami remain by Kyo's side...im crying rn Buzen left to his home village and Zenki is going to run the orphanage omg im fucking crying rn omg Jiro writing the whole reason Misao lived in the Senka Roku!
Now her perspective after birth! so after she died, she lost her senka maiden powers...and omg baby Soh is everything and him with Kyo is ugh so cute. awe damn he almost hit Soh because he said that Misao was slow at walking. damn that's scary ngl but he has no idea what his birth affected his mother. he's just a child.
ahhhh they went to the beach!!! the promise they made.
Omg when Kyo made Jiro Soh's attendant I was so happy for him and he cried. The guys were placing bets on if he cried lmao
omg all the baby form of each character was so cute!!!!

What a great little ending. A bit anticlimactic since we pretty much knew she wasn’t going to die but still. I appreciated that there were repercussions and actually thought the whole cyclical reasoning behind the energy give and take was clever. Sad it’s all over but really enjoyed the ride.

Well I was right, the ending was a bit rushed in my opinion. It was also confusing since it was going back and fourth from the future to the past after the child was born. I didn't like that too much.

But overall I really loved this series and it was a great ending. I love how the Author ended the series and was able to give Kyo a happy ending.

SPOILERS:

Misao didn't die!!!! I'm so happy!!!!! OMG!!!! And her baby.. he's adorable!!!
Don't like the fact that Kyo is harsh towards his child, but I do understand that he is so in love with Misao and he respects her so much that he doesn't like anything bad said about her.. even if its from his own son.

Wonderful happy ending <3

'Misao is the bride of prophecy whose blood gives power to the demon who claims her. But most demons want to keep her power for themselves - by eating her! Now Misao is just trying to stay alive...'

This is the last volume in the series. Aaaaah! Always sad when a great manga series comes to an end.

And it has been a great series, despite its flaws (ie. its less than healthy relationship, and the fact that Kyo is often a selfish douchenozzle).

This last volume is no exception. Kyo is once again a selfish douchenozzle. I'd like to think he'd learn, but he's a demon, so perhaps I'm expecting too much from him. He's selfish in his love for Misao, though, so maybe he can be forgiven... a little bit?

That aside, I tend to read shoujo manga with my critical hat off. I read manga for fun, so I tend to accept more from manga than I do from written novels. If that makes sense. But hey, we all like to read trashy bodice rippers (which... this kind of is) sometimes, right?

So, as a series end, how did this volume do?

I really enjoyed it, and I think it was a great end to the series. It tied up loose plotlines nicely, and the climax didn't feel contrived at all.
I mean, perhaps it is contrived that Kyo was able to save Misao's life, but you know, he had to share energy with her for a couple of DAYS and she was left severely weakened and stuff by it. Therefore I feel as though it wasn't contrived and convenient.

The last couple of chapters were kind of a flash forward in time, and I enjoyed seeing the triplets aged up! They grew up well! ;D

Unfortunately, the last few chapters did make me dislike Kyo. I mean, he hasn't exactly been a GREAT guy throughout the series, but he was at least a likeable douchenozzle. But yeah...
He shouldn't treat his son like that. *frown*

All in all, this was a fitting end to the series and I am pleased with the way things were wrapped up. :)
