There aren't many books I can re-read four times and enjoy more and more with every read.
No zombies in this tale but it is a great apocolyptic/alien invasion story and i am so far in love with this series!

Marcus is book one in the Hell Squad series by Anna Hackett.
This was a great start to the series. I wasn’t sure if I’d enjoy this title, because I’m not a big fan of the post-apocalypse world, but I soon found myself engaged and entertained.
The world was invaded by dinosaur-like Aliens and not the friendly type. These aliens almost killed off humanity and now what is left are banding together and trying to find a way to end the invaders. It’s war. Humanity’s last chance.
Marcus is the leader of Hell Squad. He’s ruff, tough, and scared on the inside and out.
Ellie was a society girl. She was sheltered, sweet, and innocent until the invasion. Now she’s running communications for Hell Squad.
I liked the introduction to everyone on Hell Squad. Hell Squad is a crazy bunch of people. They take on the most extreme missions. All are hardened warriors/soldiers. I liked the believable dialogue and loved the teasing and banter amongst Hell Squad.
Ellie and Marcus dance around each other, but after a mission that she goes on with Hell Squad, Marcus took action. I liked that we got both Ellie and Marcus’s POV’s. It was fun reading the tough Marcus and seeing his feelings about Ellie. At times his thoughts and words were almost poetic. I also enjoyed the sex scenes. They were well written, placed well, and added to the story.
I also liked that we got some chapters in Gabe’s POV to help us see into him and get ready for his book.
Hackett is a wonderful writer and storyteller. Her characters and world are believable and make me just fall in the story from beginning to end. I can’t wait to read on.
Rated: 4 Stars

Such an emotional story!
I’ve reread this story multiple times, and each time I love it more. It’s action packed and steaming hot. There’s sadness, disparity, and loss, but their counterparts happiness, hope, and life are within this story too. Marcus and Elle are a couple of characters that pull you into their world and make you root for them.

I absolutely adore this series. I love Marcus and his whole team. This book is the perfect introduction to this world and the Hell Squad crew. Amazing!
Well, I think between this crack and Treasure Hunter Security we can add Anna Hackett to the list of holy-shit-buy-it-right-now authors. LOVED this book, and I feel like I'm going to blow through the rest of the series. It doesn't even bother me that they're short novels, which normally I take issue with, because they're so freaking good.
Uh oh, another crack-tastic series from Anna Hackett that isn't fully on Kindle Unlimited? My maternity pay will struggle!
I've finally gotten around to starting the Hell Squad series and I'm not disappointed in the least. It is exactly what I would want from a sci-fi action romance - a post-apocolyptic world where aliens are trying to destroy the human survivors, squads of military men and women fighting back, and finding love despite all the hell going around them.
This is a fast-paced, action packed story. The writing flows well. There's enough to fall in love with the characters and recognise their fears and dreams. Marcus and Elle compliment each other. It's lovely to see the tough guy fall in love and see Elle as the strong, resourceful woman she is.
I've got a lot of reading to do since this series is at book 19 but I know I'm going to enjoy the ride.
Disclaimer: While I know the author personally, this doesn't affect my rating.

Coming in at less than 150 pages this was a quick sci fi action romance read.
This story packed lots of great action of military fighters fighting crazy dinosaur type aliens. A she likes him, he likes her but doesn’t tell type romance. Steamy scenes and great humor.
This story was just a fun read. Elle is the groups eyes while they are out fighting. Marcus is the groups leader. Elle finally gets to help out Hell Squad on the ground but Marcus doesn’t want her to get hurt. She isn’t trained for this stuff. Once Elle and Marcus are thrown together we get to see their attraction for each other hit head on. Also we get to see Elle become a bad a** female soldier. One who will do her job even if it puts her in harms way.
You got your action, sci fi, romance, humor and steamy parts. Plus its a short read that keeps you entertained to the end and (at least for me) looking forward to the next in the series.
