Dystopian, romance, first person POV, this story is just amazing. I love diving into a world created by JLA and this is no exception!
We start with a flashback with young orphan Lis and her buddy Grady meeting two Lords looking for a certain type of person. There is a connection felt, then we move on. Lis is now 22 and living at a manor under Baron Claude. His stupid cousin Hymel is around all the time too. She saved Claude from being pick pocketed/stabbed by using her "intuition." I will admit reading that word over and over grated on me a bit, but I digress.
This is a very character and romance driven story, lots and lots of HEAVY world building. There is so much to learn in this dystopian world, and it isn't extremely clear what state the world is in, or even time period. I'm personally a fan of this! We are learning about the world as the main character is.
I don't want to give too much away in this review, but if you like FBAA, you will love FORAW. I am just waiting for the sequel to be announced....

Jeniifffeerrrr bb, this was literally just ‘From Blood and Ash’?!?! Why did I finish it? Cause I was waiting for ANY-THING to happen. Smut was a solid 8/10 though, good spice.

I feel like I’ll change my review on this book bc I felt like it was a totally different writing style than her other series. I haven’t decided if it was a good or bad thing, I do think the last 100 pages were the best part. I will read the next one because I want to know what happens.

The fact that not one person mentioned the fmc was bi/pan was rude. If I had known that, my ass would’ve been running to read this.
I don’t know how on earth jla makes such fun books to read. This was so good. Also that last 15% was wild. I love that I’m most jla books it’s good throughout but the last part has so many twist and turns you don’t know what’s going to happen. I really enjoyed it!!
