This was such a casual read. No big blow ups or drama, just a new relationship between an NHL star and a firefighter blossoming. I wish we would have gotten more development and a focus on their relationship. It was like all the sudden the book was over. I enjoyed this story, but I think overall this one left me wanting more story in that I did not feel like the story was completely told. There was an amazing outline of background and action, but it felt underdeveloped.
Thoughts while reading:
-honestly I was super bored with this until about 70% in. I kept thinking it would be over, but still seeing so much left
-I’m constantly confused about who’s who and I’ve read several books before, though it was awhile ago. They also chat more than I care to hear sometimes
-Aleks really has to have the future conversation with Gabe at his workplace with his colleagues there? That’s awful
Overall it was boring and maybe too much sex (at least that would have shortened things), and they got together quickly, but it was a bit more interesting at the end, so I’ll round up to a 3 stars. Aleks really reminded me of a Regency maiden, which is probably unfair of me, but it’s what came to mind.

Tropes/Themes:
-MM contemporary romance
-Sports romance (professional hockey)
-Hockey Player x Fireman
-Friends with benefits (for sexual exploration)
-Pansexual hero
-Low angst
-Dual POV
-Book #4 in an interconnected standalone series
This was a quick read, and because of that I felt like the relationship didn’t have time to sufficiently develop enough for me to get emotionally invested in. Not my favorite of the Eden Finley & Saxon James collabs.

It was fun, but very similar to all the other books. I don't think these authors really know how to exploit their ideas, the stories always feel a little lack-luster, like they don't achieve all they could.
Also, very cringy dialogue with very short relationships
