An incredible thriller. The character work is astounding, Gillian Flynn really nails it with the different ways the characters highlight the traits in one another. Despite most of the cast being incredibly flawed you cant help but be captivated by these flaws and how they affect each person's relationships with one another. The tension is incredibly well handled and the plot keeps you guessing the whole way through. The social commentary is incredibly well written with its commentary on gender, feminist ideology and the role of the media and public opinion in the judicial system.

Evocative, thrilling, ridiculously clever, sinister. Sharp and complex commentary on feminism, misogyny, generational trauma, heterosexual relationships, sociopathy, familial dynamics, and the media sphere circa 2010. It’s a lot of ground to cover, but somehow this book weaves these threads together deftly into one whole, complete, devastating portrait of mutually assured destruction.

This is one of the most clever books I’ve ever read. If you think you already know it from the movie, you don’t. I was pleasantly surprised by both the complexity of the characters and the way this book constructs a world informed by patriarchy and misogyny. There are no certainties in this book, and that’s what makes it incredible.

Almost DNF’d this book before making it half way through. The second quarter of the book was so slow and I did not like Nick or Diary Amy at all. Right before I gave up though the book turned around and I got sucked into the mystery. An incredible web of clues and lies and plot twist I loved how everything played out. However I still never liked any of the characters and I don’t think they really grew or changed throughout the book.

A good domestic thriller that got me out of my reading slump.

It was a fairly easy read and it kept me at the edge of my seat. Although I already saw the movie, reading the book gave me more insight about the character's thoughts. Would highly recommend this for those who would love to start reading thriller.
