I did not expect to be a single mom at this point in my life. But here I am. And I am starting to realize the quality of men out there does not rise to level of my late husband. So I am embarking on a journey to be whole on my own. This book was so helpful in showing me some of the joy of being on my own and continuing to live. I was lucky to have been so well loved for so many years and now it’s time for a new journey.

This was more affirming than revelatory for me as someone who has been single for 8 years.
But it's still reassuring to hear the biological clock myth exploded. And to know that choosing to be single is increasingly common.
I do feel a great deal of sadness for women, like the author, who were taught that DIY is a man's job or that buying property should wait until marriage. I lucked out so much with my female role-models.

Overall I quite enjoyed this book, I like how casual it is written - however there are parts that I at least find very very old school (like the notion that now that you’re single you may grow out your leg hair 😂)
