This wasn't my favorite fairy tale retelling, even though The Little Mermaid is one of my favorites. It just felt weirdly forced and had a ludicrous amount of synonyms for words that were bizarre. Like, just say make-up. Everyone knows what the word make-up means. I couldn't even tell you the synonym that was used because it was so weird that I had to look up the definition. Meh.

This book was difficult for me to get into at first. I love The Little Mermaid so wasn’t sure how I would feel with the changes. The more I read the more I liked what Liz Braswell did with the story. I liked the added characters and the working together between Eric and Ariel. Overall slow start but a fantastic ending.
