"Plot Hole-palooza"
Cut 3/4 of the first 2/3 - just too many implausible situations in a limited space. **Bit of a spoiler: if you have cameras watching a prisoner and the prisoner disables the cameras, why wouldn't you, as the captor, realize this for the rest of the book? Oh right, because then the prisoner couldn't try to escape a billion times (and fail a billion minus one).** Lots and lots of other plot holes. Did I say lots? I mean lots. Without them there would be no Book 3, though.
I really like Orphan X's backstory, which is the main reason I ignored the reviews and plowed through this one. Even the narration by Scott Brick ran out of places to take the story.
I'm hoping that Book 3 is as good as Book 1.

WOW! A great novel was given to me by a friend who thought I would be into it, and I blazed through it. Fast-paced, good character development, and great writing that, had me wanting more.
Action packed, creative, and endlessly entertaining. This series is an ongoing favorite. Rather than let the stories become template based, the author is already keeping things fresh and letting the protagonist get mixed up in things impossible for even the most skilled operative to anticipate. It makes for a brilliant adventure.
Again, I wasn’t disappointed! The detail and the protagonist make this another good read in the series.
The second book about Evan Smoak (or Orphan X). Evan is used to being the one who does the saving, but this time, he'll have to save himself. He is abducted, and finds himself in a heavily secured villa, surrounded by trees, mountains and snow.
These books are GOOD. They're fast, violent, creative and like watching a good action-movie, but better. There are some interesting female characters, but not enough to my liking. That is the only bad thing I can think of here.

This, this is how to write a thriller. I blasted through this 2nd installment of Orphan X in an afternoon. 'Page turner' can be an overused description, but here it fits. I've not been this driven to finish a book since the early early Reachers. Great characters, lots of action, plenty of tension which the author manages to stretch an outrageous amount. Thoroughly enjoyable. And I'm already well into the next.
I nowhere I’m going next MAN - to the bookshop to buy the next orphan X book!!!
