Blindsighted showcases Karin Slaughter's innate talent for crafting the grittiest and darkest thriller novels. It's a testament to her skill that later established her debut in this genre. Her introduction to Grant County is both brutal and captivating as we delve into the intricate relationships and shattered pasts of these law enforcement agents. It's also about how these flawed fragments of themselves and their families are intertwined with the mystery of the religious-based killings and sexual assaults. The graphic depictions of these murderous acts in this first novel in the series leave no room for doubt about the severity of the predators' vileness.

Its fast-paced narrative divides the attention between Sara, Jeffrey, and Lena, allowing us to understand how their past scars, whether physical or emotional, still haunt them. By the end, it's arguable that they are still grappling with their past trauma along with the aftermath of the case. This dark thriller offers a lot in terms of our absorbing and imperfect characters' struggle for stability, both with each other and within their own lives, as they seek answers for the murder of Lena's sister and the sexual assault of another woman.

Trigger Warning:  This book contains scenes and references of murder and rape, so please be advised if you want to read the beginning of Karin Slaughter's Grant County Series.

Let me start off by saying my 2 star rating has nothing to do with the auther, Karin Slaughter. The book itself is wonderfully written, I felt the characters were flushed out so the reader could connect to each one, the plot and storyline was solid. But, this is where my rating comes in, this book just was not for me. It is very dark, gory, graphic, and it was just too much for me. Normally, I would have abandoned a book like this, but I did not think it would get that bad. if you like these type of books then you will love this author. I was so traumatized by the end, I could not even finish the last couple of chapters.

Here are the triggers:
Very detailed descriptions of torture and rape throughout the book. The religious background makes it that much worse. I felt extremely uncomfortable. I will not be moving forward with her books because I have been told all her books are like this and it is just too much for me.

If you like these type of books, then this is a great author for you.
