I wanted more here. I just didn’t understand why they loved each other. It was like everyone told them they should be together enough times that they caved. I was going to rate it in the 3.5 star range because I wanted more emotional development but the epilogue made me cry so 3.75 stars.

Good gods, this is the biggest slog. The main characters had absolutely no personality or quality beyond their physical appearances and kindness — which, who cares — and purport to love each other after, like, the bare minimum interaction. The conflict that was preventing them from getting together was fleshed out so little and just kept getting dragged over the same ground enough times that by the end, it felt like no obstacle whatsoever to the point that it was frustrating to have to keep hearing about it. At least the side characters were interesting and likable. A good thing, too, because we spent more time on their happiness than our main characters’. The entire book was spent talking in circles about who was related to whom, who was attending a ball, and going over the same information again and again and again. Seriously, I was bored out of my mind. Remind me not to read this author again, because this was mind-numbing.
