There were some interesting parts, but it felt a bit too short and I would have liked more reflection.

This was an insightful read into a rising chef’s experience - a grueling industry that I know little about. It’s a lesson in rising from one’s mistakes, perseverance and trust in oneself.

Why’d I pick this? It’s been on my bookshelf for ages - I had the delight of meeting the chef at a Chicago event a few years ago!

I devoured this book. Onwuachi writes with such honesty and authenticity. A great book for those interested in food and for those who like a good memoir.

Memoirs are hard to write reviews for, since they’re so personal. This one left me dying to eat at a fancy restaurant where I pay 500 dollars for 5 bites of courses. I love reading about peoples skills & talents that are so different than my own, and I loved the way Kwame infused his own story in his art of cooking.
