Books have made me cry before, but this was a different feeling altogether. I especially loved the use of flashbacks and how they both drove the theme of disconnection and gave the reader something to hold onto for later. Beautiful storytelling. I don’t know that I can follow this one up immediately with another book. I really need to sit with it.

Outstanding scary story, full of love and fear. A great story of sisterhood, family and grief. It will make a terrific movie, you heard it here first

3.5 really. Some very excellent. I didn’t like the ending…

I wanted to like this book but the sections didn't combine well and I couldn't engage with any of the characters. Maybe they were just too young? I would have liked to hear more from the aunties' perspectives. The poor grammar really grated by the end even as I understand it was meant to be in the character's own voice.

This book made me glad I'm not dependent on family for all my social needs. It's a big world with lots of different people and experiences.

I got extremely frustrated that the characters never seemed to learn from their mistakes. It was always "stop keeping secrets" then next scene they were keeping more secrets. The central mistake the MC made, not chasing the sisters into the forest, seemed wise to me. When two people book it into the woods, don't follow them to danger. Everyone was grieving and vulnerable, and Tracy wasn't able to protect herself. Even knowing what happened, at the end, the three cousins barely escaped together.
