Definitely a lovely feel good book - the story was lovely with a couple of annoyances (why won't she be honest already?!). The book was about Lizzie who, after having her heart broken, moved back to her old town and moved into her best friends upstairs flat over the new cafe. Bring on a few trial and errors and everything works out alright - even hanging out with her high school crush - Ben. Things do turn a bit sour including a fairly predictable plot line but overall, it was sweet with a lovely ending.

Sometimes it's good to have a change of genre, and as a crafter who has taken classes at a local cafe I was looking forward to listening to this. The Cherry Tree Cafe is my kind of place, and if it were real and close to where I live then I'd be a regular customer. The book is a delight and my knitting needles were clicking away as listened Lizzie infuriated me at times, but she is a lovely character. In fact all the characters are well written and realistic. The plotline is interesting with a few twists along the way, and a satisfying ending.
Karen Cass was the perfect narrator for this book and brought the characters to life.

The pink cover drew me in immediately. The story is light and breezy, but a bit too long for my likes in a breezy novel. The characters were relatable and I knew the love connection immediately. It just took a while to get there.

I have enjoyed some of this authors other books but found this one a bit bland. A quite predictable story where not a great deal happens.

Oh Heidi, Absolutely gorgeous opening book to the Wynbridge series, as always I adore and have enjoyed each book I’ve read. Each time I pick one up I’m instantly in there as if it’s real life, watching the characters set out their daily lives and watch them flourish. Amazing all around

This was a cute concept but very eye roll inducing at times. I found myself greatly annoyed by character decisions that were made. The story felt like it jumped around too much and I had a hard time keeping track of or caring about the characters.

I have previously listened to this on audiobook but way preferred to read this in paperback - so much so that I finished it in less than 24 hours. We’ll pretend I didn’t stay up until the small hours of the morning reading... I just couldn’t put it down!
Having collected all (bar one) of Heidi’s books now I was so excited to finally read this as it is the first of her books. My plan is to read them all over this year so that I can also enjoy her new one, A Taste of Home.
I absolutely loved this book and now can’t wait to get started on Summer at Skylark Farm as I just know I’m going to get hooked.
All of the characters are such lovely people and so kind and welcoming. Village life just sounds so idyllic and I’d love to live somewhere like this! The relationship between Lizzie and her dad is probably my favourite and I can just see the looks they give each other about her mum on a few occasions!
I can’t wait to continue on my Heidi journey now!!!

I happened to stumble across Heidi Swain’s blog in January and I have enjoyed finding out snippets about the book, the excitement when the publication date was announced and the stunning cover revealed, I have been eagerly awaiting the chance to read The Cherry Tree Café as it has been one I have been really looking forward to.
Lizzie has had her life turned upside down, what started off as a hopeful day soon ended in one of the worse days of her life as she has been pampered and treated like a princess she had hopes that by the end of the day a marriage proposal would have finished the day perfectly but she couldn’t have been more wrong.
Lizzie now has to decide what it is she wants to do with her life and as she heads back to her home where her friend Jemma is only too pleased to see her she is hopeful Lizzie will be able to help her and husband Tom with their new project of opening The Cherry Tree Café.
This book was everything I hoped it would be and more, as soon as I started this book the storyline had me captivated and I couldn’t put it down so I ended up reading it in one sitting. The storyline is so uplifting and cheerful even though both the main characters and supporting characters do face challenging times but they all pull through to help one another with their various problems.
The author has a great skill in descriptive writing, she set the scene perfectly in the quaint little Cherry Tree Café I could really visualise the ladies ( and gent ) sitting in The Cherry Tree Café making reams of bunting whilst eating the delicious signature Cherry and Chocolate cupcakes surrounded by all the quirky original upcycled furniture.
Lizzie was a delightful and warm-hearted heroine and each of the supporting character were all very believable, down to earth characters who all brought their own little something to the storyline. Jemma was everything you could hope for in a best friend, generous, loving and supportive and she really was superwoman managing to make her dream a reality whilst still juggling being a mother too, she was a favourite character of mine alongside Lizzie.
Lizzie has such a great skill when it comes to crafting and you could feel how passionate she was but at times her heart was preventing her from jumping in with both feet and I found myself urging her to take a leap of faith as I could see it was sure to be worth it in the end. At times I wanted to throttle her in frustration as she was a little naïve but I really did love her character.
I loved the mystery and suspense that the author created around Ben, I had an idea or two in my head what his story could be but I will hold my hands up and say the author managed to pull the wool over my eyes!
I really feel that this is a praiseworthy debut by Heidi Swain, she has ticked all the boxes for me, engaging characters, descriptive writing, captivating storyline, perfect setting with a splash of romance and mystery thrown in too. It was a charming and vibrant read that had me hooked the whole way through, I really hope that there is a sequel to this book as I still feel like there is more of these characters story to be told so people with the power please lock Heidi away and don’t let her emerge until we have another installment!

Ive loved Heidi's writing since the first book I read of her's which was That Festive Feeling. So I decides to go right back to the book that started everything, The Cherry Tree Cafe. Overall, another heartwarming book dealing with emotional topics very well. At the start it was very slow paced, then it picked up. Some of the circumstances I didnt quite agree with in the story (with how they were dealt with). And the ending wasnt what I was expecting. However all in all. Another great read from Heidi Swain 😊
