One seat pool read. So many twists and turns with respect to Emmy’s standing with the bureau, the progress of the case and the murder patterns. The only thing I really didn’t care for was the rushed ending. So much leading up to it, get it wad left unclear. Who was Demetrio really? How did he get word back to Brooks so quickly. What was Marty / Mary motive besides disfigurement.
Loved it. What you think is going to happen never does.

This was pretty good, but it's not really my type of writing I guess.
I remember having read quite a few James Patterson novels, and generally liking them. This one doesn't really feel too different than other books by Patterson that I've read.
There is a good twist at the end, but ultimately it's a well written thriller, but nothing super cutting edge.
There is a little bit at the end that I don't understand. After the killer is revealed there's some explination of what's going on, but there's still some... information that isn't explained. They have the killer on camera, but then there's somethings about the killer at the end that totally don't match up with any of that.
Maybe I missed something, maybe it was a red herring all along. I don't know.
It's a James Patterson thriller. It has a pretty good premise of a killer who hides the deaths of his victims by making them look like accidental fires. That's interesting, but still, by the end there are some questions that are left over and are a little confusing.

I wanted to give this 4 stars, due to the action and suspense, but I have to deduct a star for the annoying main character.
At first, Emmy is a dedicated FBI analyst with dreadful people skills. She's rude, selfish, unappreciative, jealous, and naive. Okay, I can deal with some of that, as she is the relative of a crime victim. But when she *twice* runs into a crime scene against orders (remember, she's a civilian, not an agent!) and risked the lives of others, I really wanted her to suffer the consequences. I wanted her to get fired and have to teach preschool with a whole classroom of children with the same lack of obedience and respect for others that she showed.
Does Emmy learn from her mistakes? I don't want to give anything away, but parents of preschoolers can feel safe that she won't be influencing their children any time soon.

This thriller is dark. It was great, but dark. I couldn’t listen at night
Graphic: Torture, Murder
If this is perfect example of a Patterson I won't be reading any more soon.
Definite page turner. Great example of why I don't read fiction on a workday evening. I kept thinking just one more page...
Aunt Paula gave me this book and I gobbled it down while at the beach. It was a wild ride and I really enjoyed the twists and turns-insane plot twist!!!! Haven't read a thriller book in a while, and although it kinda scared me I enjoyed the experience!
