Honestly a bit heavier than I was anticipating, a lot of heavy topics, such as:
biphobia, death of a parent, child neglect, substance abuse, undocumented status, anxiety attacks, abusive partners

In that sense, with so much drama and intense things going on, the relationship didn’t get the time I think it deserved.
But props for making Han have his gay crisis before the engagement bc if he was faking all of it, I would have DNF’ed.
Jackie, you villainous bitch, I hope you’re rotting in book hell somewhere.

I inhaled this book. My God, Han and Kenny are two of the sweetest characters I've read in a long while.

These boys loved each other SO much before they ever realized they were in love. And I adore a friends to lovers story when the author can really sell their backstory/friendship and Sonora Reyes does a great job with that here.

This has some really great things:
  1. Marriage of convenience for citizenship, featuring childhood best friends. (Of course I'll marry you. I'd do anything for you, bro.)
  2. How is anyone going to find this plan of ours believable if we don't practice kissing first?
  3. Joke's on you guys, everyone else already knew you were in love.
  4. Queer awakening
  5. Autism and executive dysfunction rep

I do think the final 25% of this book struggled a little in terms of story progression. There are a lot of external factors at play in Han and Kenny's story and it was a lot to try and wrap up without feeling like we were rushing through it all.

But oh, that final chapter and epilogue just warmed my heart so thoroughly 🥹💕
