This book is great not just for the "I'll always love you, no matter what" message, not just for the "when I'm far away I still love you" message, but for really learning to read.
After reading the book several times I realized that the illustrations in the book are going through bedtime motions - eating dinner, taking a bath, brushing teeth, etc. It's like a story-within-a-story, and it can help even older kids learn to really look at what's going on. Like in a graphic novel, where the words only tell part of the story.

Because of this picture book, “no matter what” has become a common refrain in our house. It’s the perfect phrase to remind my kids of my unconditional love for them, and saying it immediately conjures up this sweet story we’ve shared together countless times.

Such an emotional book. I feel it in my heart everytime I read it . Such a simple message for children. " I will love you no matter what"
Absolutely adorable children's picture book with the theme of unconditional love, especially a parent's love for a child. Small is having a bad day but no matter how he behaves or what she turns into or what else happens Large reassuringly will always her. Loved the message and loved the language with lots of alliteration, rhyme and other good stuff - " a grim and grumpy little Small" playing "break and snap and bash and batter". My youngest loved this and we read it every night for years and years and it's definitely one I look forward to reading with future grandchildren.
