I liked this story. Dex and Valen have this bond that’s just so comforting. Valen is so accepting and patient with Dex. This is very low-angst, just the norm that comes with grumpy-sunshine. The spice was nice and well-described. Good job for a debut novel.
I am your home! I absolutely loved Valen! When they were younger all Valen wanted to do was take care of Dex and protect him. Then he lost Dex. Dex has been a free spirit over the years only depending on himself to make it as a photographer. He has no idea that deep down he does have roots and those roots are to find him again! Loved how Valen truly loved and respected Dex. He wanted Dex back in his life. He wanted Dex to still be Dex and live how he needed to live, but he wanted Dex to keep coming back to him. Unique and lovely romance in the Philippines!

Dex 25 didn’t like commitments but he was a travel photographer and also had a cam following. Dex was off to the Philippines for the first time on a job, Dex wasn’t expecting to see an old school friend at the airport.
Valen 27 yrs was to be Dex’s guide for the next 2 weeks.
A friends to lovers' novel with humour at the beginning and later becomes a second chance romance. The food descriptions sounded yummy in this.
Finding home again and love is what Dex needs, but he needs to stop running first. Hearts and emotions are high in this story for these guys. I liked some parts in this book and others not so much, I didn’t feel the connection between them. A HEA ending with some sexy scenes, dual povs included.

This is part of the multi-author Love Abroad series, set in the Philippines. Dex is a travel photographer and amateur cam star, and Valen his one-time foster brother. The two meet up again after a few years apart when Valen somehow manages to find out Dex's travel schedule and finds him at the airport in the Philippines. It's essentially a story of the two reconnecting, and trying to get past Dex's past abandonment issues.
For whatever reason, (I think it's probably me), I just didn't connect all that well with these two. I felt for Dex, especially when the reason behind his issues is revealed, but for some reason I just didn't feel it. There was lots and lots of heat and spice between them, and those scenes were well done, I loved all the dirty talk and they obviously were compatible. I did like Valen's family welcoming Dex 'home' after all that time and making him welcome. I just felt there were huge gaps in the backstory, like I was missing big chunks.
That said, I loved virtually visiting the Philippines and I did enjoy the story, I just didn't connect with it.

This was a wonderful debut book for this author in the Love Abroad's series. Love the characters and the story, can't wait to see what this author gives us next.
Another excellent addition to the love abroad series. Another book that makes me want to visit the beautiful location it has been set in. Dex & Valen knew each other growing up when Dex was in foster care and almost adopted by Valens family. Dex left before that could happen and has been on the move since. He hasn't returned to the Philippines since, until his work lands him back with Valens family and learns to open up and be with the family who was meant to be his.
Compared to others from this series, it has more angst and a death in the family, so be warned if that is a trigger for you.
The spice level is great and doesn't get boring with Dex camboy scenes. Some books have bored me with these. Will read more from this author to see if I enjoy them as much as I did or if it's just the magic that is the love abroad series to me.

Well this book emotionally destroyed me. I'm going to be looking into more books by this author for sure.
What to say about this book... it was absolutely EVERYTHING. I love how Valen and Dex relationship is very strong. They are 100% #COUPLEGOALS
Rikki Leighton's debut novel as part of the Love Abroad series was a chance for former foster-brothers to re-connect and re-ignite passions that they'd sparked years before. Dex spends his life travelling and photographing beautiful places and beautiful people while also camming. Valen arranges to host Dex in the Phillipines when Dex finally travels there... and introduces him to more extended family that he hadn't met while being fostered with Valen's family... and tries to break down Dex's barriers...
I truly enjoyed getting to know both Dex and Valen and watching them re-connect and learn to trust in each other again. There were a few small bumps and a few loose ends, but it didn't make me enjoy the story any less. I truly look forward to Rikki Leighton's next offering!
