Если не прочитаете, то в принципе ничего не потеряете. Книга в целом не плохая, но и не прям хорошая.

First, we invent or discover a life-meaning project sturdy enough to support a life. Next, we must contrive to forget our act of invention and persuade ourselves that we have not invented but discovered the life-meaning project—that it has an independent “out there” existence."


Solid fremstilling av eksistensiell psykologi i psykoterapautisk setting som alltid fra Yalom. Men i likhet med de andre lignende bøkene har han skrevet føler jeg allikevel at det mangler litt dybde, de små ekstra detaljene som hadde skapt et mer fullverdig bilde av prosessen, så den når ikke helt opp.

What an interesting guy, and I’m so thankful for his candor. I was thrown off by the sudden switches in tone (memoir, then his therapy clients, then fiction) but I really appreciate the epilogue and his points on the spectrum between fiction and nonfiction, between the intrinsic fictions of truth and the touching truth possible in fiction.

V Hovorech k sobě se Yalom vyrovnával se smrtí, v této knize se svým vztahem s matkou. No, proč ne. Příběhy jsou opět čtivé a zajímavé, nemohu se ale zbavit dojmu, že tato kniha se daleko více zabývá terapeutickým procesem a myslím, že ji daleko více docení lidé pohybující se v oboru.

Co ale měl znamenat ten poslední příběh? Myslím, že chápu tu metaforu - to, jak se v rodinách traumata a bolest mohou přenášet z generace na generaci - to zpracování mi ale v knize připadalo trošku mimo mísu. Proto, a také kvůli tomu, že kniha nebyla tak čtivá, nechávám jen 3*
