My daughter loves the Princess in Black. Poor Princess Mangolia can't catch a break, she just wants to celebrate her birthday but all these monsters keep popping up. She was so nervous when Princess Sneezewort nearly discovers Princess Mangolia's secret. I love that there is hero who is also a dainty princess.

Absolutely adorable next instalment to the series. The illustrations are particularly endearing in this one and had my five year old working out which Princess she most identified with - and which ones were her parents and sister.

A monster hunter's work is never done. And secret double lives are quite exhausting. Even for Unicorns.
adventurous funny lighthearted

Teaching children about the challenges of finding a work-life balance.

Book 2 fell a little short of the first installment for me. I think I want a little
more background story to the monsters and how they’ve become Magnolia’s responsibility.

Fantastic sequel.

The Princess in Black saves the party!! Another wonderfully adorable title in the series. I hope there is more to come.

My daughter (3 y) is obsessed with birthday parties so this really did the trick for her.

This is the perfect series to transition young people out of "easy readers" and into chapter books. The bright illustrations, engaging plot line, large print, and easy vocabulary make this a perfect confidence building read. Plus the stories are a lot of fun! My daughter has read all of the Princess in Black books a number of times, and continues to enjoy re-reading them.

Princess Marigold/Princess in Black is back to save the kingdom from goat gobbling monsters. Huzzah! except it's her birthday and the monsters are especially hungry....
I hope Sneezewort becomes her unwitting sidekick in the next one. And more Frimplepants for sure.
