Cynthia Tobias is one of my favorite authors, and speakers. I have listened to her so often, I can hear her voice when I read her books! Once again, she provides helpful, practical, do-able advice on parenting and learning. I borrowed this book from the library but will add it to my list of books to buy. Priceless!

Excellent read for not only people who have children or work with them, but also for learning about your own learning style and other adults in your life. An excellent way to understand communication for yourself and those around you.

I LOVED this book! My son is too young to have a predominant style, but I learned a LOT about myself and my husband!

May have some value for others, but did not benefit me. I started reading but ended up skimming. Tobias' basic theory is based on different learning styles. I found them confusing and just another example of a personality type test. If I had to choose one, I prefer Myers-Briggs, which isn't included here at all. I appreciate that God wired people differently and it's important to understand each other; however, I get a little wary when we are not encouraged to understand what character traits are results of the fall (and need to be changed by the Gospel) or what character traits are godly and reflect Jesus. For example, I think order is in the character of God (He always brings order out of chaos), so I'm not sure that people who say they "work best" in chaotic environments should never be encouraged to clean their desks or order their world. We need to find balance in how we were designed vs. how God wants us to be restored.

Enjoyed this book equally as much for what I learned about my kids as what I learned about myself and my husband and how WE work!! It has helped communication in our marriage as well as helping me school my kids better!

Did not finish. This needs to be read and not listened to. But what I listened to was good information and insightful into how different kids might see the world.

Overviews learning styles. Humorous, engaging writer makes it a fun read. Rather than boxing your child into one neat little category, this book encourages you to see the multiple factors at play. A really helpful tool in gathering ongoing assessments about what internal and external factors might enhance your child's learning environment. Lots of encouragement to try out different things, see what works, and change what doesn't. Uses several different approaches for informally assessing personality and learning styles. A great tool for a homeschooling parent or other people who are teaching others.
