It’s got a lot of good stuff in it but it also feels a bit hard to parse? Some of that is probably due to me still not being quite up to par to truly understand these things, part of it is the book not spending time explaining them, but I do think part might be the translation itself? It’s not bad but the intro written by the translator just doesn’t flow well, and neither does the main text. The text itself is broken up into a lot of headings and instead of doing combined or encompassing stories tells specific diary like tales about people living in these situations. It’s infuriating how many people get right up to “are we the baddies” before turning away. I left wanting to know more, but also feeling like I didn’t learn as much as I’d have liked… but I am on the way thanks to it.
