This was very much a page turner.
The characters and situation were interesting. All was well written and engaging.
I enjoy Dirk Pitt Snr as a character. His side kick Al G is such a great allie, then you have Dirk's children and wife. All play an important part in this book.
The only thing that slightly irked me was calling Loch Ness a lake. It is a Loch. We only have one lake in Scotland, all other bodies of water are called Lochs, Lochans, Firths and Sounds.

I loved the intertwining of Egyptian, Scottish and Irish history.

I would recommend this book.

This is the 25th Dirk Pitt Novel - and probably the last one - after the author Clive Cussler died in 2021.

This novel is about a British company making microrganisms that clean up toxic and chemical spills and act as a dispersant. The problem is that there are usually symptons of something like cholera in those areas where the company has been working.

Pitt only becomes suspicious after his wife Congresswoman Loren Smith-Pitt is invited to a womens only high roller conference in Scotland, led by Evanna Mckee who is a huge advocate for womans rights and for woman shattering the ceiling. She is paying big money to get women into some of the major positions around the world. Such as female presidents and prime ministers and a female CEO of the World Bank.

As the news about these cholera outbreaks are being tied together as possibly being caused by the BioRem Global business, Pitt's suspicions deepen. That just happens to be the company now owned by one Evanna Mckee.

Pitt travels to Scotland with Loren to do some investigating, while his children Summer and Dirk Jr are in Egypt chasing up the location of a missing royal daughter of an ancient Egyptian Royal family.

It turns out that at the time of the heretic Pharoah Ahkhenaten, there was a major epidemic in Egypt during which more males died than females. This epidemic also affected the royal family as well. This pharoah is known to have had 6 daughters before finally having a son. The sons name was Tutenkhamen. The oldest sister of the family, named Meritaten, sailed away down the Nile taking an ancient Artifact called the "Apium of Fara" with her. Apium means Cure. Meritatens burial grave has never been found.

Evanna Mckee was abandoned by her father at a young age, raised by an abusive uncle, married young and was abandoned also by the the first husband after he was KIA in Desert Storm. Her second spouse turned out to be a drunken bum who also slept around and even raped his own daughter one night while he was drunk. So both Evanna and the daughter had their reasons for hating all men.

Readers should be able to come to the same conclusion that Evanna did and what she took action on...

This book felt a bit more like the old-school Pitt adventure. The primary characters were represented and they were the focus of the story. The Celtic plot thread was solid and I enjoyed it.

Interesting concept for a storyline.

I think the storyline was interesting. As for the actual events and characters, it was predictable. Thought the ending was somewhat weak in that the "bad guy" just killed herself. Nevertheless, an interesting read.

It's the latest in the long Dirk Pitt series, you know what you're going to get. But can the misogyny please be toned down? Summer does jack all in this book and it would be nice to not villify women who want to promote women. This reads like an out of touch man's idea of feminism and what they want to accomplish in the world. It's possible to come up with a better idea for a villain.

This was fun! There was a lot parts of this, from Ecuador to Egypt. The medical portion was sometimes hard to follow. I still got swept up in the adventure along side Dirk Pitt Jr and his sister Summer Pitt. There were some really fun little moments, I like the magic computer woman Max. I definitely want to read more!
(prompt 2 - a character with red hair, Admiral James Sandecker)

Easy beach read, something to take my mind off of all the depressing events that are occurring in our daily lives. The book has action, world travel, good guys vs. bad guys. Good guys win but before they do, they go through a lot of accidents, and hunting down archaeological clues. Interestingly enough, the story does deal with a microbe/bacteria that is being disseminated around the world and will affect the entire population. Here we are in the midst of a pandemic with a virus that is affecting the entire world, but in this book, the bad guys save the world in a matter of weeks. Wish it were that simple.

OK, so I like Clive Cussler books...sue me. They are always good when you need to cleanse the brain. No thought required. In this one, perhaps even more suspension of disbelief than usual is required though. The Pitt family saves the world from a vengeful billionaire woman who owns a biochemical company and decides to get rid of males from the human race. Dirk Pitt literally saves man-kind. In the process we learn about a convoluted tale of ancient Egyptian contact with Ireland of all places. Everyone always turns up in exactly the right place at exactly the right time to move the plot forward, as usual. In the end, a slightly better than average entry into the series. If you are in the mood for a mindless action thriller, check it out.

The rare book that would probably be better as a movie.
