Strange weather in Tokyo gives me the feeling of the quietness, loneliness, yet light, simple and tender atmosphere in the narration like a warm breeze. I like cute interaction between protagonist and sensei sometimes. It's slowly introducing us to intimacy with different age gap, falling in love when you're not teen anymore, mundane day-to-day life, character's pasts. The way they both see things differently but still deeply connect in some way. Even though I wasn't 'fully' immersed with their relationship, but I still think the ending is emotional slightly. I'm not sure if the months pass, I will still remember details in this book other than its weird magical realism elements. There's no plot, but some vibe surely left inside me.
PS. Don't expect it to be 100% lighthearted since there contains some minor sensitive content, so if you might feel uncomfortable with them then I recommend to check trigger warning before checking it out.

Anyway, I find it more of a story between two lonely people who have an unconventional friendship which turns into romance. The narrator runs into her old school teacher while out at a bar. They strike up a tentative friendship while all the while calling him Sensei but only because she couldn't remember his name and even after she does she still only refers to him as Sensei. She is about 30 years younger than him but they reacquaint themselves when she is 38 and he is 68.
His wife has died and his son, who is seldom mentioned, lives far away because of a disagreement with his mother. Tsukiko lives alone and is considered odd by many people. They strike up a friendship that seems at first to revolve around drinking but develops they more time they spend together.
More character and cultural study, I caught myself thinking about this book often.
