Poor Aggie…

Just trying to go on a holiday in an endless, obsessive pursuit of (stupid) James Lacey. The old girl can’t even enjoy a Mediterranean getaway without people being murdered around her.

What I enjoyed about this book was that she wasn’t in Carsely-I’m assuming because MC Beaton needed to give the village a break from killing off its citizens. Obviously, Beaton is a bit of geography and history buff as her descriptions of Cyprus were so well researched. I really enjoyed getting all the history of the area.

I also enjoyed Agatha’s new paramour in this story. Nice for James to have some competition. Now, I think Charles is obnoxious, but at least he doesn’t have the emotional range of dry wheat toast. Charles is actually cheeky, and I like cheeky. Plenty of laugh out loud moments in this one, a very fun read/listen.

The Agatha Raisin series is always a winner when I want a short, cozy mystery. In this 6th installment in the series, spunky, middle-age Agatha ventures to Cyprus where she becomes involved with a group of British tourists. When one of them is murdered, Agatha takes it upon herself to figure out the whodunit. Penelope Keith narrates the audiobooks, and they are fabulous. Read if you enjoy: cozy mysteries, middle-age characters

This book starts off in Agatha's lovely village but quickly moves location and it's a nice wee breath of fresh air for the series. Once again Agatha is swept up in a murder...

Oh, dear... when she decides to run after James to Cyprus, I knew it wasn't going to end well.

I really HATE her running after James. He isn't worth it. Loving someone should make you feel happy. Comfortable. Safe. Not worried, not trying to become something he'd like, not trying to change yourself and your habits. When I think about my husband, I smile. When I think about that other guy, the one James reminds me of, I get sad. I feel worthless. I feel ugly and disgusting and not good enough. And it feels like that's what Agatha feels when she's with James or thinks about him.

That's not all that happened in this book, of course, but the rest isn't very nice either.
She's being accused of killing people to upkeep her fame as a crime fighter.
People are being nasty to her.
People are trying to kill her.
And Charles is being an a-hole. Also... I don't think Agatha is his type. She isn't anything like Deborah!
