“Mitsuha…aaaa”✨”Taki Taki….iii”

It is all about where memories live—brain, body, or somewhere mystical. The characters are on a mission to find their soulmates in a world full of chance encounters. It's like our memories are worse than memory cards; we forget the important stuff. Deep thoughts and love vibes all around! It basically offers a thought-provoking exploration of memory, love, and the human experience.

Such an amazing and wholesome story about finding soulmates without even knowing who they are, where they are… what is their name…it’s so unique…! loved it so so much…!!!

Genre: YA fantasy, science fiction

Storyline: "Your Name" is all about Taki and Mitsuha, two characters who mysteriously swap bodies. Taki lives in Tokyo, while Mitsuha resides in a rural town. Their confusion and amusement as they navigate each other's lives are both humorous and heartwarming. The catch is, they never meet in person (finally meets though… a little spoiler, hehe…) Despite this, they form a strong connection and develop feelings for each other. The story beautifully explores the themes of fate, memory, and love, leaving audiences with a touching and memorable experience.

As resonating as the film, but probably works a bit better as a movie due to its imagery and body swapping plot that is a bit more comprehensible through a visual medium. The message is impactful, and the translation keeps the inspiring and emotional tone, but I think I'd rather rewatch the movie than read this again.

Your Name as a light novel is a must read. The story holds a special place in my heart. There's something about the battle to continue to live in a world of unknowns that resonates deeply with me.

For those unfamiliar with Your Name (Kimi no Na Wa), it is a fantasy romance story. The light novel, while published before the movie's release, was written after movie production started. They complement each other so I highly recommend watching and reading, in whatever order you prefer.

There are so many topics covered so I'll give you a rundown of some that'll hopefully convince you to give this book a shot.

- Male and Female Protagonist
- Tokyo and Rural Japan Setting
- Shintoism
- High School / Slice of Life
- Linguistics (Japanese)
- Folk Art and Storytelling
- Festivals
- Food and Alcohol
- Female to Female Attraction
- Male Femininity
- Journaling
