This tankobon will always hold a special place as the first manga I ever purchased. However, upon re-reading this book for the first time since my early teenage years, I'm rather upset to find that I found this to be rather unenjoyable.

The plot is far too fast-paced, with entire sections of the source material often blitzed through within a handful of pages. There is very little room for character development for most of the cast, and what is there is either bland or too rushed to have any emotional weight.

The quality of the artwork ranges from very good to serviceable. However, the key issue is the composition and structure of the art. Panels and images are often arranged in such a manner that it is difficult to follow, with a few select pages being particularly egregious. Furthermore, the action scenes are extremely stilted and lack almost any sense of flow. In fact, the action is possibly the worst I have experienced in any manga up to this point.

The dialogue and text is functional but lacks any sense of flair. There are a few attempts at humour here and there - nothing that I found to be particularly enjoyable. The dialogue is a far cry from the quality of the source material.

Overall, I was left disappointed upon completion. If the story was spread over multiple volumes to allow breathing room for plot and character development, and with touch ups to the compositions and dialogue, I could see this being a highly enjoyable short series. Sadly, I feel this story was a rushed and rather poor adaptation of its incredible video came counterpart.

So good. I read this because I love the Zelda games and the book is really nice. It's like playing the game without the frustration of dying so much. I am probably going to read all of this series.

- I've never played Majora's Mask, and I think I'm okay if I pass.

- This story was really weird, and the characters were weird.

- The moon was super creepy.

- I liked how Link used masks to turn into different races. That would be fun to do in the video game.
