Good international intrigue, but...

I generally LOVE everything this guy writes, and speed through it only to be sorry when it is over. But this one took me a month to get through. Some of it was typical gripping Cussler stuff - yea! But there seemed to be quite a bit more setup & description than normal (or necessary IMHO). Not sorry I read it, but definitely NOT my favorite book by Cussler.

Really enjoyed the plot of this book. Would be good to turn this into a movie. The only thing I would say is that I think its too good to be true. But nevertheless, it does make for a good read.

Cabrillo was the only fleshed-out member of the Oregon crew, yet here he vanishes in the cast of characters.

My sympathy goes to a minor figure: the anonymous drugged guard at the Kabaal. It's his life ambition to perform that ceremonial duty at the holiest site of his religion. His opinion on terrorists and their 14-year old bombers go unrecorded; but one can imagine.

Meh, just not my thing. I tried this to better understand why my husband reads this stuff. If I read this all the time I’d be paranoid too. That does answer some questions.

Not one of Cussler's best.

I think it's all the gadgets!
