Pretty decent thriller, clips along at a fast pace - more Bourne than Reacher, despite what the cover blurb says.
As an action-thriller novel, this book isn't bad, technically. It's protagonist isn't actually a person to care about, and the POV swings about wildly, at times, paragraph by paragraph, but it's kind of fun in a watch-a-spy-be-badass kind of way. But the themes of the book, of violence and "retribution," of untempered male aggression, are pretty gross. It treads the line of being racist, too, with its brown terrorist bad guys. So, while I don't regret reading it, exactly, you should not bother with it, nor see the movie adaptation that just came out (the pending release of which spurred me to pick it up).
Read via my Nook Simple Touch. A solid book by Vince Flynn. I love the Mitch Rapp stories, and my goal is to read them all in order now, starting with this one. There were a handful pretty blatant typos in the book, but I'll look past those, as I'm not sure if that's a consistent thing across Flynn's novels. Overall, story was good, and I look forward to the next one.
A good action book. Perhaps the motivation for him to become a spy is a little weak, but who really cares...there's a training scene, the rookie proves he's a natural and there's a rescue and escape at the end. Reads like an unapologetic 80's movie and I was there for it. Enjoyable, and I will read more in this series/
Mindless escapism at it's best. This is the book you read when when you just want a thrill ride without having to put any effort into it. Try to ignore the editing errors (which must be bad if I notice them)
It's likely based on the time it was written or the author being somewhat of a newly released writer when the book originally came out. I didn't think the series was that believable, and I was distracted by this throughout the entire book. 3 stars for effort but I will not be continuing the story.

Plot or Character Driven:
Plot
Really well-developed characters and vivid descriptions and plots that draw you into Mitch Rapp's world. The only reason why this book isn't 5 stars is because I personally found it difficult to keep track of all the characters' names (and their aliases!!) -- it felt like names were dropping in and out of the plot more than they do in Game of Thrones
A fast paced great espionage thriller. I enjoyed the story and will certainly read more Vince Flynn novels. I was a bit disappointed in the editing errors (typos and in one chapter there were some errors in the diologue regarding who was speaking). I love that Vince Flynn was a conservative Minnesota guy. He was given a gift and shared that with his readers to the fullest before his death. I can't wait to read Mitch Rapp #2.
Mitch Rapp is quite the character & I'm anxious to see how this transcends to screen
This is my kind of book, lots of action, characters you can enjoy spending time with, and a happy ending!
