Was pleasantly surprised by this one. Great story and world building.

This book has been on my TBR for so long and I’m kicking myself for not reading it sooner! The events starting literally on the first page snagged my attention and didn’t let go for most of the rest of book. Our MCs banter is oh so good and had me snickering more often than not. The world that is created here is stunning, and I can’t wait to find out more about the magic system.

Thankful that book 2 releases soon, because I need it!

I got really into this even though the writing was bad and the characters sucked. They didn’t act like real people but I devoured it. Will not read a sequel.

In my search for Indie books in the month of IndieApril, I was recommended this book by several people on Tiktok (Booktok) and as soon as I read the synopsis I knew this was for me.

If you like strong FMCs and lots of witty banter, check this one out. Sage and Von immediately captured my interest and the slow burn, between them was perfect.

Although I almost exclusively read books where the MC is a woman/girl/female, I fell in love with Von a little and wouldn't mind a novella or a stand-alone with him.

I'm definitely looking forward to the next book.

This was a such a fun and fantastic read! The story was medium to fast pace, but not rushed, with medium intensity. I loved the use of the gods and goddesses and not in the typical way you are thinking. Anyone who has magic is considered 'cursed' and as such are being killed for it. The main character goes on a noble quest and finds that happy endings aren't quite what they seem. There is a lot that is unexplained, but I think/hope that it is just setting us up for book 2. This would definitely be a series I could happily binge, but now we have to wait for book 2!

Plot:5/5
Spice: 5/5 b/c when there they are very hot
Character Dev: 4/5

Overall: 5/5

More telling than showing. Got this far because I was promised a shadow daddy. Then our FMC mentioned her inner goddess reacting to the MMC (like in Fifty Shades of Grey), and I had to nope out of there.

Extremely predictable, plot twists obvious to the reader, dumb protagonist, slow moving
