I like this idea for a book and it's reasonably well done, but I'm not sure I could do it for storytime unless I sang the whole thing.
This was a cute book about a woman named Valentine and the man who is trying to woo her. His attempts to communicate with her range from letters and Morse code to smoke signals and carrier pigeons. Tricia Tusa's illustrations contain many details that enhance the story.
This picture book tells the story of a man who wants to ask his sweetheart to be his valentine but his messages keep getting thwarted. The postman can't find her address, the pigeon he trains ends up in Madagascar, and his Morse code message hits a blizzard. The best part about this book is that the reader sings it to the tune of "Oh My Darling, Clementine". The tune helps children remember the words, so they can sing along after hearing the story only a few times. This book makes for a great read-aloud and is enjoyable for children and adults.
A man repeatedly tries to send a valentine to the girl across the valley, but something happens to each letter so that is doesn't get delivered. To the tune of "Darling Clementine".
This one has lyrics set to the rhythm/rhyme scheme of "Oh My Darling Clementine". I figured that out after page 2, and sang the rest. Amaya was confused, but like the song.
This is a really cute, simple, rhyming picture book. It follows a story of a man that is trying to send a letter to his love but thugs keep happening and getting in the way. My students enjoyed this book and thought it was super cute.
Super fun and perfect for Valentine’s Day. Though the desire to sing it like oh my darling clementine was overwhelming.
I saw this on Jen's (Mentor Text) post and thought it looked fun. Found it when I went to Vroman's. I am not good at keeping the tune as I read the words but the story was still funny. For a holiday book, I liked this one.
