Holy.smokes. This book had a crazy twist at the end of EVERY SINGLE point of view, which is amazing! I couldn’t put it down, & I’m looking forward to discussing it at bookclub

Very far fetched and ludicrous. I wouldn't even describe as science fiction. Was waiting for the twist for most of the book, came around 75% and petered out again
Some characters I didn't care about at all.
Fast paced chapters helped me get through it!

I went in to this book not expecting much, I have heard only good things but hadn't really sought out the plot and now i'm glad I went in blind.
This was a WILD ride.
We start bu getting the introduction to the POV's we hear from
Jade - Who match with Kevin and things she's found her one, but he lives in Australia half way across the world. Jade decides to go meet him but is in for a shock when she arrives. I did like Jade and by the end i'm glad things worked out for her but for a while I felt so bad for her pulled in to a scheme.
Mandy - oh god Mandy if I thought I felt bad for Jade it was nothing to how I felt about Mandy. She matched with Richard and after already having a failed marriage she is ready to settle down and start a family or try to again. Richard died before she got that chance but when his mother and sister offer her the chance to have his baby Mandy agrees and I bet she wished she hadn't.
Nick - In a loving relationship with Sally until they take the test and he matches with a man named Alex, I liked Nick but it was more that his narrative brought around growth and he really got fucked over but came through it all better than before.
Chris - argumentatively the most entertaining POV, a killer who wants to find love? He matches with Amy a Police sergeant what could go wrong?
Elle - The Finder of the gene and the creator of the new DNA test to get to your match she wants to find some love herself. Tim was nothing she thought she'd want but she did but nothing was going to stand in either of these characters way.
I was HOOKED!
The plot was great, the whole way through it seems liked The One service was a little shady, Jade felt nothing for Kevin but did his brother. Mandy was not matched to Richard to many little things but she ended up having his baby because his mother who wasn't actually his mother convinced her too. Nick a man who thought he was happy but just needed something to open his eyes to new things and feelings and really get away from that wife. Chris a killer who matches with a police officer funnily enough I don't think this match up was wrong. Elle the centre of everything, Tim not who he says he is. He made the system fail on purpose and we get the stories of few that are happening at the time.
The reveals really hit well, I mean every character had a reveal SO FUN!
Jade in love with Kevin brother... opps!
Mandy pregnant with maybe not her matches baby, whose 'mother'
the writing was greta and will definitely be reading from this author again. The tension was thick and entertaining it kept you so invested in every one of the characters, plots and side plots right until the very end.
This was a hit and it also kinda surprised me, you should give it a go.

This book was fantastic and really made me think! What was most intriguing to me was how the author helped readers develop empathy for characters they may not have done (Christopher) and how accountability and reckoning was developed for characters like Ellie. I loved how the author really went into all the intricacies of what a society would look like if we really could be paired with “The One”- absolutely fascinating and enthralling. I really loved the comparison of the book to the Black Mirror series and think that’s incredibly apt. Highly recommend and would read more from the author. Now I can’t wait to watch the series!

Firstly, what a treat for an audiobook - five narrators! And they were terrific.
I like a book that brings to the table a premise that does not exist in our current world, but is put together well enough to make you think "what if this happened?" This book does that. As we discover page 1 (or within 15 seconds of the audiobook) a simple DNA test can match you with your ideal mate. We are introduced to several characters and how this new science does/does not change how they feel about current, past and future romantic relationships. This new way of knowing who your "perfect match" is, makes for thrilling reading and will no doubt cause much debate in bookclubs! I definitely made some audible gasps whilst reading/listening to this book :) Always a good thing.
The characters/I needed to get this off my chest(!!): 1. Ellie - ethically immoral or scientific genius? Hasn't some science and medicine in our modern world had some shady origins? Wouldn't modern science and medicine be behind without it? 2. Tim/Matthew's parents were victims of this illegal obtaining of dna - were his revenge actions then justified? 3. Jade and Kevin were an interesting couple for me - I get why Kevin did what he did for his dying brother, but can a relationship survive if you've been lying to the person you love since the beginning? Even if said person is your DNA match? 4. I found Mandy the least interesting character and frankly annoying. 5. Psychotic Pat was a curious take on the desperate, barren woman. 6. Christopher being matched with Amy, a police woman initially made my eyes roll until I thought "wait, this could get juicey!" And it did. Getting into Christopher's mind and even having a serial killer in the mix was (I thought) clever of the author. That couple made me think a lot. 7. And the scenario that made me the most invested in was Nick and Alex. It also made me the most disappointed - mainly because I think it had potential to be teased out further and parts felt lazy compared to the rest of the writing. Deepak's wife happening to work with his match - yes out of all the millions of options on the planet she is 2 degrees of separation - was one of the few things in this book that made me wanna scream - why do author's do this? It's flippin preposterous and your reader will always be unimpressed. Sally dying (for me) was too neat; means she doesn’t have to deal with the consequences of her and Deepaks scheming - this could have been less tidy if she had survived and more satisfying. Withholding this important information is fucking selfish and I wish that was explored further. Sally pushing her bf to do the test. Then Sally became a goddam hypocrite. What did she think was gonna happen when a mixed race kid came out? Essentially is still an affair whether she is your match or not. Manipulation. And poor, little Dylan. Rejected by Deepak and Sumaira!! Nick was rightly disgusted. 2 wrongs do not make a right but geesh. Yes that last scenario made feel like I got a cake without the icing. I wanted more dammit and he had set it up beautifully to be more!
Overall I enjoyed this book and all the teasing out of scenarios was intriguing. The questions it raises if such science does become available was thought provoking, reflective and marvellous.
