This was a really interesting book. I went in thinking it was a thriller, and it definitely is in part, but it also has elements of science fiction and romance. We follow multiple perspectives, I believe 5-6 different story lines. Some of these have more of a thriller-y vibe, while others are more focused on romance elements or family drama-type elements. Because of the many perspectives, at first it was hard for me to remember what was going on with each character and who was who. That got easier as the book went on, but I thought about taking notes at first to keep the characters straight. Each chapter jumped to a new character, which did keep me reading, but it also slightly annoyed me because I wanted to keep going with the story line I was in with the current character, as many chapters ended on a cliffhanger.

Some descriptions of violence and gore are quite graphic, which I wasn't expecting. Some of those do stick with me, so, for me, they were on the verge of horror and being too graphic for my taste. It was also a little jarring when compared to the other story lines, which didn't contain anything close to that level of graphic content.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. Minor spoiler for the type of ending:
The ending is ambiguous, as in, you don't know exactly how it ends. I think that's fitting based on what happens, but it might bother some people.
I'm interested to read more from this author.

I got 40% through when I just couldn’t anymore. The characters are selfish and one dimensional, making them really annoying to read about. Some of the language is a bit offensive (fatphobia, homophobia). Also
one of the characters has cancer and some of that is talked about in detail which is triggering for me and may be triggering for anyone who has lost someone to cancer
