Freed of the burden of having to do extensive world building, this sequel rightfully focuses on character development in some very fun and rewarding ways. This book maybe doesn’t make me think as much as the first one did, but it is still a very entertaining, well written, dark comedy. This one will never be adapted to a movie, considering the Mickey17 movie changed the plot so much that nothing that happens in book 2 is possible, but luckily the book remains for people who want to see more of the characters!

A good follow-up to Mickey 7. The last moments between Speaker and Mickey were unexpected and so human. I was pleasantlysurprised and glad there was a moment like that in this story.
MINOR SPOILERS
I really enjoyed Mickey7, but this one book, while keeping me reading the whole time, was not always out of admiration or necessity to know what followed. More than one time, I found myself annoyed with most characters, which now have little grasp on their personalities and lack even more depth than before. When Nasha and Mickey first meet and talk with Speaker—and pretty much the whole time after—I was hoping the creepers would notice how selfish Mickey and everyone was being and just straight up exterminated them. The resolution of the book at the very end has someone doing something with absolutely no build up to it. That character has no business doing what they did, there's simply nothing really pointing to it. There's more that comes to mind. However, I open my mouth, and close it. Open it again, then close it without saying anything. Open it eleven more times, and close it before saying anything at all.
