Prisoners of the castle is the story of Allied Prisoners in Colditz a castle in Germany. Colditz was for prisoners that had escaped from other Nazi prison. I found this a fascinating read because of the way they schemed and planned their escape.
Macintyre made the history come alive with his writing style. He kept me interested and captivated. There were a few places it drug a little bit, but not much. If you like WWII history, I think you would find this book fascinating.
😊 Happy Reading 😊

Without the globetrotting glitz and glamour of his usual stories, Ben MacIntyre's delve into Colditz sometimes gets a little stale.
What carries it through are the incredible stories of defiance, endurance and innovation, as well as moments of tenderness that transcend class, nation or ideology.
From the 1944 section onwards, this book chronicles the fall of the Third Reich from a truly unique perspective and is impossible to put down.
