I like this one, but I also think I wanted to like it more than I did. When I read the blurb it seemed right up my alley so I picked it up straight away.

Starting a new series can sometimes be difficult as the author has to set that world up and so I gave a lot a leeway for that. The world set up is interesting and I do like the characters, even the antagonist secondary characters. I liked the idea that there was a good side and a bad side to the vampires. I just wonder at there only being a small number of the good guys. But also after learning their strict rules, it became a bit more apparent why this was.

When we first met Eric I wasn't sure about him, we did meet him when he was avenging his partner so not his best moment, but he grew on me as the story went along. His back story took a little to come out and when it did I felt for him. I also felt that he moved on from being fearful of Sebastein to angry and unafraid of pretty much all vampires very quickly.

Zaine i liked. He did come across a bit sappy at times considering his was a 400 year old vampire but he was still a likeable character. He did do some questionable actions, especially trying to take on an older vampire without the help of the brotherhood and leaving Eric badly at one point, but once they worked it out they kept it as a team.

It was interesting about Eric's development, and to be honest I am now intrigued as to the rest of the side characters and the people they will end up with, how will some thaw, so I will continue the series.
