The Exception to the Rule by Christina Lauren

lighthearted

5.0

One typo leads to a chance connection between a young boy and girl, snowballing into an annual tradition of happy Valentine's Day wishes. There are rules to these exchanges: no personal information; however, as the years pass, the rules for the emails are breaking as they share more than ever.

I don't typically read short stories, but this romance is a 5/5 for me. THE EXCEPTION TO THE RULE rings in at 100 pages and certainly packs a punch. It hits all the right notes with Christina Lauren's signature witty banter, incredible chemistry between the two main characters, and a fantastic meet cute.

The first half of this short story is easily bingeable as it is told in epistolary format with an exchange of emails between the two characters (Terra and Callum) over a series of years. These emails were so fun and easily set the scene for an interesting meet cute. There's even a couple scenes that had me giggling out loud.

Would highly recommend for a light and easy read!
