I am absolutely enthralled with this book! The world and the magic system(s) are so unique and fascinating. The main character Kolfinna is so relatable, brave, funny and powerful. And Blár! Such an intriguing and multifaceted character. Also, Fatemi is clever in writing her “side characters”, their development arcs throughout the book are both fulfilling and surprising!
The story is quite tense and has a lot of violence. The pace is great and I was really drawn into the story so that I couldn’t stop reading. I love that the main focus is in the fantasy action and adventure, but it has some hints of romance that really flesh out the story. I am both numb and excited after finishing this book, I need the next part soon!
