Second Time Reading because Netflix
Ahhhh, I don't think I can give a good review for this book. Like it was a good book, but I don't know how to review it.

Things happened, and it was interesting [well that was insightful], but I'd read too many Nikolai vs Mal reviews to not get sidetracked all the time trying to justify that Mal was a better person than everyone else argues he is.

Yes, I am a rare reader who actually likes Mal. *gasp*

There are valid arguments about the lack of character development of Mal and Alina, however now I'm reading the third book I can see that what they go through in the second book does lead to some development and was necessary, even if said development is only acknowledged in book 3.

The second book is always the hardest, and I would say that this is not as good as the first. Sturmhond is a delight, but it just took a bit longer to get into this one and, as you can tell, I just didn't come away from it with any particularly strong feelings. Still 4 stars though, because 3 stars would be an injustice to this series.

TLDR; Don't read book reviews before you read a sequel, you will only get sidetracked looking for evidence for/against other people's opinions.
