The Game Changer by J. Sterling
4.0
4.5 stars for a lovely follow-up to the Perfect Game!
TPG was one of my first NYA reads, and I absolutely fell for the genre because of this book. When I finished it, I hated that I had to wait for the follow-up. But boy was it worth it! ( I've since learned that when a book is part of a 2 or 3 series, I wait nearly until the final one is released and then dive in)
Ms Sterling has what seems an effortless ability to tell a great story, write it well, develop LIKABLE (Cassie, Dean, Meli, and err, Jack) and HATE-ABLE (grrr, Chrystal)characters, and show human emotion clearly and honestly ( admitting to confusion, insecurities, etc)
Thank you for redeeming Jack - Thank you for making him into the man we all hoped he could be. Thank you for showing Cassie's insecurities not as major characters flaws, but simple faults that are naturally a part of what she was going through, and thank you for allowing her to forgive him!
It was kind of a fun and easy read because I like a bit of angst, lots of love and devotion, like to see characters who understand they need to communicate, and then see that they actually DO, and because I like baseball.
Jack f'in Carter rules!
