Lonely Planet Ireland by Fionn Davenport, Neil Wilson, Lonely Planet

2.0

When I moved to Ireland in January 2013 I took the up-to-date version of this Lonely Planet, hoping it would be an accurate guide for the Emerald Isle.

The common information sections within the book are pretty good, nicely written and quite informative. But when it comes to reviews on certain places writing becomes flapsy sloppy. The author(s) are very biased and sometimes you can feel an 'I can also tell bad things about a place since I am a LP author'-attitude. Sometimes attractions are talked down, and when you go there, they are actually really interesting (fe. Blarney). I really wonder why to include an attraction, when you don'T like it...

On the other hand a lot special and fascinating places are missing within the guidebook.

But - and this is the worst - there is often no Link between attractions and maps. So there are some places reviewed, but you got no clue where to find them. So why do you even mention places, when you don't want people to actually find it?

I was really disappointed - but still it's a Lonely Plant - so 2 stars.
