This is my least favourite of the series so far, and it didn't entirely grow on me in this reread. It's still a quick read and a fun one and it still made me feel all sniffly, but I didn't feel as drawn to any of these characters. Sawyer's... he means well, but he's definitely a tourist. Kip's a kid, and okay, he grows into himself a bit toward the end of the book, but he spends most of the book being a rebellious teenager.

I think part of the problem is that the POVs only intersect in small ways, so it feels like five separate stories.
