though the individual comics varied in strength, the overall concept and execution of this anthology is strong. all the comics are obviously relatively brief, so a lot of the information is more surface level than what you would find in a book that spends 300+ pages on one group, but this surface level treatment helps reveal the broader picture of American cults - the conditions they are created under, who is creating them, who is joining them, and how that effects the response the cults receives - from the general public, from the family and friends of members, from the government and law enforcement. some of the comics feel more like a summary of a longer work rather than something that can stand on it's own, but the anthology as a whole is a powerful and compelling examination of American cults.
