this started off compelling. the three characters i knew really well were introduced in unique ways, and the author did a great job of highlighting the many relationships of women in a time they were ignored--in fact, this is the best part, setting up and exploring how women bond with their mothers, fathers, lovers, sisters, and children.
However, once Agamemnon went to war, the plot slowed to an almost complete halt. The grief started off powerful, but the rest of the book slowly turned into repetitions of this same grief until it started to lose its meaning. Overall I would say it was *good*, but it left me wanting a bit more.
