I am so not ashamed that I read this book in a day. Not one bit.

I'm really glad, though, that I have re-read the entire series and saw the movies. This book was the most confusing for me when I first read it. Seeing the movie actually helped to alleviate the confusion.

So I think I was confused because Katniss was. This is all in first person so I'm basically relying on her to get me the information I need. Unfortunately, Katniss is so broken she doesn't understand a lot of what is going on. Not to mention people hid a lot of information from her because they didn't want it go get messed up. Which is get. Katniss is a bit of a loose cannon at times and doesn't take orders well.

What I am certain of is that there is indeed a District 13. Everybody was told that it was destroyed during the rebel attacks 75 years ago. But alas, it was not. They just moved underground. Very smart of them indeed.

What I also know is that Peeta was taken by the Capitol when Katniss blew up the Quarter Quell arena. This is where Katniss discovers her true feelings for him among other things.

Some of the more annoying parts was that everybody hid a lot of things from Katniss, like she couldn't handle it. She is tougher than she looks for the most part. To be honest, I think it would have been good for her to know somethings so she didn't mess up any of their plans. I mean you have no one to blame but yourself if you send Katniss somewhere, not tell her what is going on and then get mad when she does the exact opposite of what you wanted. If you wanted her as the Mockingjay, you are gonna have to fill her in.

I hated President Coin. She was sneaky and manipulative. I think she didn't care about the people of 13. She was only looking out for her best interest.

My final thoughts on this series: I adored it. I will continue to adore it and love it and cherish it. It was exactly what I wanted to happen. I hope that we get a book about the Dark Days (the rebellion that happened 75 years ago). I think that would be fascinating. I would love a novel about how the districts came to be as well. Yeah, I am one of those people who can't let a beloved series go.
