A Brief History of Seven Killings by Marlon James

challenging dark tense slow-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? Plot
  • Diverse cast of characters? Yes

5.0

what are the consequences of a single action. what are the long-term shifts resulting from a single action, for not only the instigators, but the bystanders too?

this book has such an intriguing concept - using a fictional plot to kill Bob Marley as the single action, taking us through resulting consequences, all framed within the political landscape of Jamaica and the united states

at times this book was so challenging to read, trying to follow the plot, keep up with the characters, and to grasp context, but it was well worth it and i highly recommend this novel
