I'm clearly not the audience for this book.
But I've read much better YA. All characters are shallow and at best have a shade of depth, except for our leading lady, and she's not much better. She at least has a few flashes of learning to be a more mature and better person. I have a hard time buying the "romance" between the leads, and our sidekick's sexual/romantic relationship is barely touched on except to see the ugly aftermath. This makes me want to go back and re-read Butcher's Summer Knight. For all of Butcher's problems, it will have great action scenes and some character growth.
It will be interesting to hear the book club discussion next month.
