Mile High with a Vampire by Lynsay Sands
5.0
Another great read in the Argeneau series.
Brief Summary:
Jet has been thinking about Quinn since the first time he saw her 4 years ago, however Quinn doesn't remember the interaction. At the time Quinn was recently turned and was more angry that she had been turned against her will to worry about who was flying the plane. Now, after the plane taking her back to Canada crashes in the mountains, Quinn finds herself having to protect the mortal pilot from the immortals that are now gravely injured and searching for the only source of blood, Jet. Though dangerous, the hungry immortals are the least of their worries when it is discovered that the crash wasn't an accident and someone is trying to kill Quinn. Will she and Jet find their happily ever after as life mates before the assassin finds her?
Review:
Loved this book!
One thing that I find that Lynsay Sands does really well with this long-running series is that events that seem minor in earlier books come back later as more important. Quinn's sister, Pet, had her own book earlier on and mentioned the immortals that killed her parents in front of her and Quinn as her motivation moving forward. That same event comes back again this time, but explains why they were spared the same fate. I had almost forgotten about that back story until they mentioned it again. Really well written.
I also have to say that Lucian is still one of my favorite characters in any of the books I read. It just makes me smile when he's in a scene because that always means something interesting is going to happen.
I also like that Quinn is working through her issues about turning into an immortal. She was upset about it most of the book because it meant that she had to give up her career that she had built, but I enjoyed watching as other characters pointed out that while she lost that career, she still had her son, who was also turned, and her sister, who turned to stay with her life mate. Overall, I felt it was well done.
The only issue I had was it was too short, meaning that when the bad guys finally show up that there isn't a lot of the book left so things go rather quickly. It is my one and only complaint about this story that is otherwise a lot of fun.
While I can wait until the next book comes out, I am excited to see what the story will be.
