My Thougths:
I am so happy with myself that I picked up this book. Come to Me Quietly is a dark, gritty, messed up boy with a dark past and only one certain girl can save him, kind of book. And I love those kinds of books! Yeah, that theme has been played with, but I think that this book had a very nice feel to it and a uniqueness that made it a bit different.
A. L. Jackson has a really beautiful writing style. To me, it felt like poetry at times, the way the words and actions of the characters flowed and moved throughout the story. I loved that. And I think it was not only the really gritty, raw story line, but the characters that had me so glued to the pages.
Aleena felt different to me from most heroines. She’s a strong character, but she felt real in her strength. When Jared comes back into her life, she knows of his darkness and she wants to help him. And her strength came in the form of her knowing she couldn’t erase his past, but accepting him, all of him. Dark past and all. I think that’s what I loved about her, she accepts people, flaunts and all.
And I was really taken by Jared Holt. Yes, he has that dark, sexy, hotness about him that I love in my male characters. And though he came off as a bit of an ass, especially to Aleena in the beginning, this boy has a big heart. I could see it peeking around the rough edges of him. That’s what made me instantly connect with him and love him.
The relationship between Jared and Aleena is a complicated one; childhood friends with a deep past. I loved that. I usually don’t do that whole best friends turn lovers thing, but this one was so well written and felt real and natural. Their attraction and relationship developed nicely and it felt real. I could feel how both Jared and Aleena cared for each other and I could see/feel it growing. It felt like their souls connected when reading it. And I can't forget the steamy factor. These two are a really steamy couple!
The twist, Jared’s past, was so much fun, well, intense to read about! I honestly couldn’t really figure out what happened to him! And I loved that it took me awhile to figure it out! And his past really broke my heart! It really explains so much about him and why his is the way he is. Why he hurts and why he punishes himself. That made me sympathize with his character even more!
The building of the plot and the relationship of this story was well written. It built slowly but did not drag. The writing style pulled me in. The characters felt real, along with their personalities and actions. I became so attached to them. And I cannot wait to see them grow even more in the next book!
