This book is like a cozy fantasy, more likely romance-comedy. It's easy to read because this isn't a high-stake fantasy. The trope is quite common, but it doesn't make the experience less interesting. Evie or Evangelina is a woman we would love with all our heart, she is such a sunshine especially when she and her boss together. That trait of her is complimentary with The Villain character, which is grumpy, stubborn, and short-tempered, but actually all because of his trauma so don't blame him at the first.
I barely able to continue this book but fortunately finished. The tension tends to flat as for adult romance book, it has a very slow-burning romance and nothing major gradually happens between the main characters. But I still appreciate the writing style, despite the flaws.
