“Greatness takes time, Banu Nahida. Often the mightiest things have the humblest beginnings.”
“Scattered minds are the enemy of magic.”
This was a fantastic read. I loved so much about this book. It literally had me in it's grasp the entire time I was reading and if wasn't for the buddy read I read this book for, I would have binged the hell out of this novel. (Shout out to the excellent ladies that buddy read this with me!) The world-building was excellent. The author did an amazing job giving enough information to learn about the world without info-dumping while also slowly adding nuggets for great twist and turns. The politics were quite layered without being overly confusing. This is one of my main struggles when it comes to adult fantasy. I'll start zoning out because I'm not comprehending how the politics work but this book did a great job of doing both. I loved all of the characters. It was crazy how by the end, it was difficult to identify a "villain" because Chakraborty had done such a fabulous job developing each character and their motivations. The romantic interests were a lot of fun too without overtaking the politics and drama. I will be reading the rest of these novels immediately!! Highly recommend!
